On 17 of April, Hong Kong Integrated Nepalese Society organized the opening ceremony of the Service Centre and the celebration of Nepalese New Year 2068 in the activity hall of Hong Kong Integrated Nepalese Society located on 1/F 396 Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon.
The programme started at 2:30 after the arrival of the Chief Guest for the programme Miss Dora Fu, JP, Assistant Director of Home Affairs, Home Affairs Department, Guest of Honor Mr. Binod Kumar Upadhaya, Consul General, Consulate General of Nepal. Guest of Honor Mrs Vicki kwok,JP, District Officer, Yau Tsim Mong District, Guest Of Honor Mr Albert Lam, Chairman of Ethnic Minority committee DAB, Guest Ms. Kenny Lee, Member of District Council, Wan Chai District, Guest Mr. Poon Chun-yuen, MH, Member of District Council, Kwun Tong District, Guest Mr. Deep Thapa, Chairman of Hong Kong Nepalese Federation, Guest Ms. Maggie Law, Chief Inspector of Police of Yau Tsim Mong Division and many other respected guests were present in the event. The four Ehtnic Minority service centers: ChEER Center, SHINE Center, HOPE Centre, and Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minority were also present on the programme. Pakistani community leaders, Indian community leaders, representatives from most of the Nepalese organizations and representatives from some local NGOs also attended and enjoyed the programme.
The Masters of Ceremony for the programme were Miss. Kamala Pun and Miss. Salina Rana who spoke in both Cantonese and English. They were also the winners of the Cantonese Competition organized by Community Support Team - Nepalese Team on 13 March 2011. They also gave a short information about the Nepalese New Year to all the guests.
Programme officer, Mr. Bogati Shailendra Singh gave the introduction of the Community Support Team - Nepalese Team and Hong Kong Integrated Nepalese Society and welcomed everyone for the programme.
For the opening ceremony, Ms. Dora Fu, Assistant Director of Home Affairs, Home Affairs Department displayed the name of Service Centre on the wall by pulling the curtains. Miss Fu then gave a short speech and wished everybody a happy Nepalese new year. She added that she hoped the Nepalese community is and will be benefited by this service center.

In his speech, Mr. Binod Kumar Upadhaya, Consul General, Consulate General of Nepal, expressed that the Nepalese Comminity in Hong Kong is benefited by the service center and the space provided by the Government of Hong Kong. He also added that he was very happy to celebrate the Nepalese New year with all the respected guests present in the programme.
Then Mr Albert Lam,SBS, JP Chairman of Ethnic Minority committee DAB gave a short speech and he expressed his happiness to get involved in the programme and ensured that he will always provide his help and support to the Nepalese Ethnic Minority.
Then Mr. Thapa Buddhi Bahadur, Chairman of Hong Kong Integrated Nepalese Society presented Letter of Appreciation to Miss Fu. He also took the opportunity to thank everybody for their presence and he wished everyone for the prosperity and healthy life on the year ahead taking the occasion of Nepalese New Year 2068. He also took the opportunity to thank the Hong Kong Government for providing the space which is an advantage to the Nepalese Community in Hong Kong. He also welcomed all the Nepalese organizations to utilize the space to the maximum through the social activities that can benefit and upgrade the Nepalese Community in Hong Kong.
After the formal ceremony was over, the guests enjoyed different types of Nepalese foods and refreshments. The guests shared that the Nepalese foods provided were very delicious and tasty. The programme ended at 5:30 with the refreshing Nepalese foods and casual talks among the guests present.
