Nepal's India leaning UML led government is thought to be pushing the country into the verge of civil war, analysts warn. The government has lately decided to suppress the May Day demonstrations set to take place in several main cities of the country by mobilising the country's military which is believed to be breaching the Comprehensive Peace Treaty the warring parties signed some three years back. Analysts worry that the government's unconstituional move will lead Nepal nowhere than to a devastating civil war.

The main opposition party CPN (Maoist) has decided to organize a massive mass rally in Kathmandu, the capital city of the country; and major other cities across the country on the occasion of May Day. Tens of thousands of Maoist supporters have entered the capital to take part in the rally. Maoist leaders have assured the UN establishment and diplomatic missions in Nepal that their mass rally will be peaceful. However, fearful of being toppled by the people power like in Kyrgzystan, the UML led government has decided to ask the military to suppress the peaceful rally. Analysts warn that the government's illogical move will eventually force the Maoists to retaliate back which will lead the country into an unpredictable political chaos and violence.

Following the May Day rally, the Maoists have also announced an indefinite nationwide strike to force the unpopular and corrupt UML government from power and form a national government through consensus. According to reports, Nepal's current government has proved to be one of the most corrupt and unpopular government in decades. Almost ninety five percent of the current government ministers are unelected individuals who only are the members the ruling parties. The job of the ministers has just been to employ the close affiliates and relatives of the ministers to various fat positions instead of serving the interests of the public and country as a whole.

Maoist leaders have often claimed the current government of being a puppet government only supported by the southern giant India. The appointment of Indian priest to Nepal's most popular Hindu shrines and handling of MRP issue has embarrassingly revealed that truth.

Amid the May Day's rally and indifinite strike thereafter, the ruling parties, instead of trying to create peaceful solutions, have also decided to mobilize their youth organizations against the protesters. This move is sure to aggravate an already fragile peace process and lead the country to a never ending civil war.

Nepal already suffered a decade of civil war between Maoist groups and then monarchy. The civil war came to an end following a twelve point agreement between Nepal's late popular leader Girija Prasad Koirala and the Maoist. However, after the death of Nepali Congress president late Koirala the country once again is plunged into the verge of civil war. The current government, if it is genuinely committed to the peaceful solution of the wide ranging problems, could pave a way for a consensual national government which will be responsible to making a new constitution of Nepal and bringing a lasting peace in the country.
