Hong Kong's Nepalese community has organized the first seminar on measures to prevent H1N1 spread in the city. The seminar was organized by Hong Kong Integrated Nepalese Society (HINS) at a community hall at Yau Ma Tei on Sunday.
The main aim of the seminar was to provide health education to the ethnic minority community members against H1N1 virus. "As part of Hong Kong society, we want to make sure that the ethnic minority communities are well aware of Hong Kong Government's initiative to prevent the Flu spreading in the society." Mr. Ashok Kumar Gahatraj, the general secretary of Hong Kong Integrated Nepalese Society said.
An interactive talk was given by Dr. Alber Kwok, council member of Hong Kong Doctors Union, on H1N1 virus and necessary measures to prevent the spread of virus. A large number of Nepalese women and elderly members were present at the seminar.
Dr. Kwok introduced the main sources of the virus and outlined important measures people need to adopt at home and in the community in order to check the spread of the virus.
Dr. Sharmila Gurung from United Nethersol Christian Health Service also provided basic ideas on the community health issues.
Swine Flu has been spreading around the world unabated. About 100,000 people around the globe are infected by Swine Flu. In Hong Kong alone there are around 2600 confirmed cases of Swine Flu patients and two had died of it.

You hav done a good job to educate Nepalis in Hong Kong. They need public health education like this.
Keep it up.
